Fernandes Wins Support of Broad Coalition of Elected Officials from Across Martha’s Vineyard

September 27, 2016 - The Fernandes for State Representative campaign announced today that three more County Commissioners and five more Selectman from across Martha’s Vineyard support Fernandes’s campaign.

"I am honored to have the support of so many elected officials on the Vineyard. They, and the hundreds of voters I have met, have given me a true understanding of the issues facing the Vineyard and I look forward to being a true champion for the people of these communities," said Fernandes.

Announcing their endorsement today are Tisbury Selectman Melinda Loberg, West Tisbury Selectman Cindy Mitchell, Chilmark Selectman Jim Malkin, Oak Bluffs Selectmen Walter Vail and Kathy Burton, and Dukes County Commissioners Leon Brathwaite, Lenny Jason, and Gretchen Tucker Underwood.

Speaking on behalf of local officials, County Commissioner Leon Brathwaite said, “Dylan has the skill and  experience needed to do this job. He is energetic and dynamic and knows the Vineyard well. His commitment to our communities is unmistakable having knocked on more than 2,000 doors throughout his campaign thus far. We look forward to working closely with him to address the very real needs of the Vineyard.”

These elected officials join Oak Bluffs Selectman Greg Coogan, West Tisbury Selectman Richard Knabel, County Commissioner and Tisbury Selectman Tristan Israel, Edgartown Selectman Art Smadbeck and Tisbury Selectman Larry Gomez in support of Fernandes.
