FERNANDES CAMPAIGN RECEIVES SUPPORT OF ALL FOUR LABOR GROUPS WHO HAVE ENDORSED IN THE RACE FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE

June 27, 2016 - Today, four labor unions, the Massachusetts Teachers Association (MTA), Massachusetts Laborers District Council Local 385, Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Local 3, and Massachusetts and Northern New England Laborers’ District Council announced their endorsement of Dylan Fernandes, Candidate for State Representative, citing his experience fighting for working families on the state level.

The MTA has 453 members on Martha’s Vineyard, Falmouth and Nantucket and the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen have over 100 local members in the district.

“Unions built our middle class at a time of rising income inequality in our country,” Said Fernandes. “As State Representative I will fight for workers’ rights and for a level playing field for families and small businesses in Falmouth, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket.”

Fernandes has fought to protect workers across the Commonwealth. In the Attorney General’s Office Civil Rights Division, Fernandes worked to protect workers who faced discrimination in employment. When the Earned Sick Time Regulations were drafted, Fernandes was part of the team that held Earned Sick Time hearings and listening sessions across the state for workers to attend and learn their rights.

Momentum continues to build for Fernandes’s candidacy. The endorsement of the four labor union’s follows the support of the only coalition group to endorse and the announcement of elected officials from Oak Bluffs, Edgartown, West Tisbury, Tisbury, and Falmouth supporting Fernandes.
