Today, Dylan Fernandes, candidate for State Representative in Falmouth, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, received the endorsement of the Coalition for Social Justice, Massachusetts’ leading nonprofit organization committed to advocating for vulnerable people and working families.

“We have a long and positive history with Dylan Fernandes. His values and policy positions are totally focused on leveling the playing field for families in Falmouth, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket who find themselves struggling to keep their heads above water,” said Deborah Fastino, Executive Director of the Coalition for Social Justice. “Also, his dedication to listening and reaching out to voters is exemplified by his grassroots campaign – going door to door and calling voters. We strongly endorse his candidacy.”

“The Coalition for Social Justice is a leader in advancing the values of social and economic justice that drive our campaign.” Fernandes added, “We share a common commitment to fighting for vulnerable people and working families on Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, and Falmouth. I am honored to receive their endorsement”

The Coalition for Social Justice endorsement is the first endorsement from a statewide organization in the Barnstable, Dukes, and Nantucket race and arrives just one week after seven local elected officials formally announced their support for Fernandes. Endorsers included Barnstable County Commissioner Mary Pat Flynn, Oak Bluffs Selectman Greg Coogan, Falmouth Selectmen Douglas Jones and Ralph Herbst, West Tisbury Selectman Richard Knabel, Edgartown Selectman Art Smadbeck, and Delegate Julia Taylor of the Barnstable County Assembly.

Fernandes is a candidate for State Representative in Massachusetts who understands the seasonal complexities of the district’s economy. A fourth generation Falmouth resident, Fernandes most recently worked as Digital Director in the Office of Attorney General Maura Healey. There, he launched innovative advocacy campaigns supporting earned sick time, equal pay for equal work, and clean energy solutions. In addition, he served in the Attorney General’s Office’s Consumer Advocacy and Response and Civil Rights Division settling claims and investigating charges of discrimination. Prior to joining the AG’s staff, Fernandes worked as political director for the Maura Healey campaign as well as the Regional Field Staff for Elizabeth Warren across the SouthCoast.
