Breaking: Majority of Plymouth Selectboard Endorses Fernandes for State Senate Alongside Eleven Local Cape Cod Elected Officials

Plymouth, MA – Today, the Fernandes campaign announced the endorsement of fourteen local elected officials for Representative Dylan Fernandes' bid for State Senate in the Plymouth & Barnstable district. The list includes Barnstable County Commissioners and a majority of members on the Plymouth, Bourne, and Falmouth Select Boards.

"Our campaign is about representing all the residents of the Plymouth & Barnstable Senate District, from both sides of the canal and both sides of the aisle," stated Fernandes. "All politics is local and it is an honor to have the early support of more than a dozen elected leaders who trust in me to deliver results for our too-often overlooked communities on Beacon Hill."

"We need someone representing us who will have the power at the State House to stand up for Plymouth and deliver for us,” said Plymouth Select Board Member John Mahoney. “Dylan has passed 30 bills through the House of Representatives and he has the experience and proven track record of getting the job done. He knows Plymouth and as an active resident and Select Board member, he has my support."

“As a member of the Falmouth Select Board I have had the pleasure of working with Dylan Fernandes and seeing him in action advocating for issues such as affordable housing, coastal resiliency, a clean environment and for assisting those in his district dealing with the  challenges caused by behavioral and substance use issues. I am honored to be able to endorse him for State Senator in the upcoming election,” said Falmouth Select Board Member Bob Mascali.

The local leaders support Fernandes’ vision for more vibrant and affordable communities and his advocacy for clean air and water, including his push to hold Holtec accountable for responsible decommissioning and building two new Cape bridges that take into consideration public concerns.

This is just the first slate of local electeds to endorse Fernandes with additional announcements to come in the near future. Their support adds to a growing list of endorsements that also includes Governor Maura Healey, Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll, and Su Moran, current State Senator for the Plymouth & Barnstable district, as well as Senator Julian Cyr (Cape & Islands) and Representatives Kathy LaNatra (12th Plymouth), Sarah Peake (4th Barnstable), Kip Diggs (2nd Barnstable), and Chris Flanagan (1st Barnstable).

Governor Maura Healey: “I have known and worked with Dylan for a long time, and he will be an outstanding Senator for the people of the Plymouth and Barnstable district.  Representative Fernandes knows the district, its people, and has the track record of delivering on the issues that matter most in their lives. I am proud to endorse him and know that he will deliver on the promise to make housing more affordable, create jobs, and build the infrastructure we need for the district and the Commonwealth."

Fernandes, who has served as the State Representative for the Barnstable, Dukes, and Nantucket district since 2017, is running to succeed Senator Su Moran, who announced she would not seek re-election last November.
